Clyde North – Old Hot Water System Replaced

A homeowner in Narre Warren called us after noticing water pooling around the base of their hot water unit. The system was an older storage tank and had been playing up for a while — the pilot light kept going out and needed to be relit manually every few days.

Luke came out to inspect. The tank had a slow leak from the base, the pilot assembly was worn, and the unit was well past its expected service life. Repairing it wasn’t going to be cost-effective, parts for older storage tanks can be hard to source, and even with repairs, the underlying tank corrosion wasn’t going away.

We recommended upgrading to a Thermann continuous flow gas system. It heats water on demand, so there’s no tank to corrode or leak, and the homeowner only pays to heat the water they actually use.
